James Bond 007: Blood Stone Review

It’s been a while since MI6 Secret Agent James Bond 007, Licence to Kill, dangerous to know, slippery when wet etc. etc. has been on our movie screens. After the highly successful re-launch of the film franchise, with the 2006 movie Casino Royale, and the decidedly less successful direct sequel Quantum of Solace (2008), there’s been no sign of the world famous British spy. This is largely due to a threat beyond even the powers of 007 to neutralise, with the real world financial meltdown leaving film company MGM in dire financial trouble. Unable to pull together the considerable sums required to create a new Bond blockbuster (or even another crappy sequel), the film franchise has been put on hiatus. It’s been left up to the video game market to satisfy audience’s desire for exotic locations, exotic women, excessive violence and witty asides while wearing a tuxedo. The current guardians of the Bond licence are Activision, and this season they’ve provided two offerings – on Wii, the remake of the legendary Rare N64 Game of the movie GoldenEye, only with current Bond Daniel Craig usurping previous incumbent Pierce Brosnan (presumably just to annoy fans of the original): and on the grown up consoles, a brand new adventure: Blood Stone.
